The telephone pole is covered by forms of communication—such as handwritten letters, postcards, and handwritten notes—that have largely become obsolete. Whether determined to be outdated or replaced by technology, the written word is fading. The telephone pole was painted with gouache and the items were created digitally.

Because technology is continuously being created and improved, I wanted to illustrate the old technology we have left behind. Hanging from their own cords, technology that was once innovative has become antiquated.

My intention for this gif was to convey how addictive social media is, as well as its negative psychological ramifications. Aware of the metaphorical/psychological burns that may occur as a result of social media use, we are unable to stop scrolling. Each frame was painted with watercolor and gouache, and made into a gif in photoshop.
